Even with two feet of snow piled up outside, our 6th grade Literature Circles didn’t miss a beat! ❄️📚 While winter may have taken over the sidewalks, inside our ELA classroom the only thing piling up was thoughtful discussion, powerful connections, and a flurry of great ideas. Snow days may slow down the roads, but they can’t slow down readers on a roll!

Congratulations for our medal winners in an early RIS 2026 Olympic Event!

7th and 8th grade Band and Modern Music students were invited to a presentation by Christopher Bill. Christopher Bill is a professional trombone player who specializes in using loop pedals to compose and arrange music as a "one-man-band" in front of a live audience. Students were able to see him perform, ask questions, and even help him create a brand new composition on the spot.

Their hard work has officially come to fruition! 🎭✨ Our 7th grade artists proudly showcase their incredible Japanese Kabuki-inspired masks, crafted from plaster and brought to life with bold Kumadori designs. Take a look at their amazing work—what a stunning display of talent and craftsmanship!

We are incredibly proud of our three students who have been accepted into the CJMEA Region Symphonic Band 🎶. Earlier this month, they competed against dozens of talented musicians, demonstrating their skills in sight-reading, scales, and a prepared solo. Their dedication and hard work truly paid off, congratulations on this outstanding achievement!

For their final project in drama class, students wrote, filmed, and edited their own short movies. These photos capture students in action, performing on camera, working behind the scenes, and even pausing from editing to flash a quick “cheese.” The finished films were impressive and served as a fantastic culmination of a creative and collaborative semester. 🎬📸

7th grade artists are hard at work creating traditional Japanese Kabuki-inspired masks using plaster craft 🎭 Students begin by forming the mask base, then design patterns and hand-paint each piece. Inspired by Kabuki theater—an art form over 400 years old—this project explores Kumadori, the bold makeup style used to reveal a character’s personality, much like a mask.
Seventh graders recently wrapped up an exciting, hands-on fitness unit where they designed their own personalized workout routines! 🏃♀️🏋️♂️ Students incorporated some or all of the five components of fitness, cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and agility, while working toward individual fitness goals. Along the way, they selected appropriate exercises, practiced proper form, and learned how to safely progress their routines. The project emphasized goal-setting, safety, and self-monitoring as students explained how each activity supported their overall fitness journey, empowering them to take ownership of their health and build lifelong fitness skills. 💪✨

Throughout the month, students have been hard at work preparing for an exciting mock trial! ⚖️🎭 This week, their efforts come to life with a full-fledged trial on stage in the auditorium, complete with a jury of their peers.
Students take on the roles of attorneys, witnesses, and a judge as they present evidence and arguments to persuade their fellow 8th graders. The experience concludes with jury deliberation and a final verdict, bringing learning to life in a fun, engaging, and meaningful way! 👏🎉

Our STEM 6 students have been hard at work designing and building model roller coasters, and the excitement in the classroom was evident. Working collaboratively, students combined creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork as they brought their imaginative designs to life. This hands-on project not only sparked enthusiasm but also allowed students to apply engineering concepts in a fun and meaningful way. It was wonderful to see such high levels of engagement and collaboration throughout the lesson!

We are incredibly proud of our students for their kindness and generosity. With your continued support, they assisted in creating over 3,000 handmade cards, letters, ornaments, and decorations that were shared to help brighten the days of countless troops. This meaningful effort reflects the compassion and character of our school community, and we are grateful for the partnership between our families and students in making such a positive impact.
