Students in Madame Young's 6th grade French class performing their Cafe skit. They were dedicated to this activity with their costumes, props, and fluency in the target language. Bravo!
Today, Edison students took part in a moving and powerful assembly "Through the Eyes of a Friend" sponsored by Living Voices. The students participated in a retelling of the story of Anne Frank. While the assembly informed the students of the hate and racism that occurred under the Nazi regime, they also learned of the brave men and women who risked themselves to save others.

This week at EIS we celebrate the many contributions of our three school counselors: Ms. Lisnock (6th Grade), Mrs. Webster (7th Grade), Ms. Alicastro (8th Grade). The American School Counselor Association sets aside this week in February to bring attention to the dedication, diligence, and hard work of school counselors.

Students in Mrs. Fico's 4th period, 7th-grade Health class participated in an ice-breaker with a game of Heads Up to start the new marking period. Creating a community of trust and belonging is important to developing healthy relationships with each other, especially in a class that discusses sensitive topics.
Holocaust survivor, Mrs. Eva Weiner, shared her story with Edison School seven grade social studies classes today. The students were moved by Mrs. Weiner's harrowing experience. They were also encouraged by her challenge to always stand up in the face of hate.
Thank you to the Westfield Police, State Police Detective Katie Feehan, and Westfield Juvenile Detective Betsy Savnik for last night's eye opening presentation for parents about internet and social media safety for children.
Students in Mrs. Fahy's sixth grade Computer Technology class are hard at work finalizing their projects. Throughout this marking period cycle course, students learn various software applications while creating and advertising a small business plan.

This morning, students took part in our January Advisory lesson. Today's lesson was the third part in our three lessons on understanding and building empathy. Students acted out various scenarios as they actively worked to enhance the way they notice, care, and act with empathy towards others.
