Voting is underway at Franklin School. Students are voting for the next spirit day. Who will win? Crazy Hair Day or Games Day? Students registered to vote. They participated in a primary to help us select the two most popular ideas. Now they are busy making their final decisions! Excitement is in the air!
The orchestra is already meeting before school to prepare for the winter concert! They were working on everything from their sitting position, bow placement and taking their cues from their maestra Mrs. Naylor. That's all before they played a note!

Mr. Geyer teaches music and so much more! He's teaching a STEAM class about music engineering. The students created Play-Doh remote controllers after they discovered which objects were conductive. In the second picture, fourth graders created collaborative monsters inspired by the book where the wild things are, using instruments as props, and ending with a monster parade. In the third picture, second graders played a game to the song hop old squirrel and discovered their new note Re.
Student Council is preparing for Veterans Day. These students created a display to celebrate the event and get the word out. We are lucky to have Col. William Morris from the National Guard coming to speak to our students.
Parents have visited classrooms to share books and traditions about Diwali. Our Student Council made an announcement on the loudspeaker for the start on Diwali today. Diwali is known as the Festival of Lights.
More Halloween fun!
Can we complain that it was too hot? Yes, but it was also tons of fun! It was wonderful to see so many families attend our annual Halloween parade!

Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s largest and longest-running substance use prevention campaign. We recognize this in our schools each year during the last week of October.

The first day of our PTO sponsored STEAM classes was a hit. Candle Making, Mad Science, Chess Wizards, Lego Engineers, Funway Fashion, Super Hero Comics and Musical Theater are just some of the classes!
Throughout October, we celebrate the enduring legacy and vibrant culture of Italian Americans. We honor their significant contributions to art, science, cuisine, and countless other fields that have enriched our nation's tapestry.
What a beautiful sunny day. Its brought out a huge crowd! It's great to see community members join our school events! Teachers are busy running the games and selling food!

The Great Pumpkin Fair is off to a great start! So many people--parents, students and former students came early to set up. Thank you for all of your help!
Mr. Staluppi works with students in small groups most of the time but also likes to gather everyone that plays the same instrument together to work on their songs. Today the trumpets were proudly blasting out their notes and having a fun!
Mrs. Goodman's class brought their writing session outside to capitalize on the beautiful weather. They worked the craft of writing, "showing" not "telling" using vivid vocabulary, similes, metaphors and onomatopoeia. They collaborated, wrote drafts and revised sentences for clarity and detail. What a great way to spend part of their Friday afternoon!!
Our Student Council Celebrations Committee meets regularly to work together. Here they are working on slides for “Safe Schools Week” for the digital slideshow that is displayed outside our office. Thanks student council!
Jack Yonezuka came to tell our 5th graders about his journey from New Jersey to the Paris Olympics to compete in judo! He trains locally in Cranford. Below are a few words of wisdom. Hard times make you stronger. Don't give up! Believe in yourself. Being an Olympian (or anything you want to be) is all about the journey. Thanks Jack! We'll be rooting for you at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028!
