March is Youth Art Month and Music In Our Schools Month. We're kicking both off with an Opening Reception on Tuesday, March 5 from 4:30-6:30p at the Roig Collection. We hope to see you there, as we celebrate the arts in our schools!
EIS celebrates Black History Month. Every year, Mr. Markowski and the 8th grade choir organize the Black History Month assembly for the entire student body. Students shared historical facts, poetry, song, and dance for their peers.
Students in 8th grade US History participate in Model Congress. They learn about the legislative process by doing the work of elected officials. Student-written bills are voted on by their peers.
Mrs. Swenson's 8th grade class is celebrating Black History Month. They are inspired by some historical figures.

8th grade students are learning about propaganda from Mr. Cusumano as part of the interdisciplinary Holocaust unit. They analyzed advertisements and posters to determine what is being conveyed.
The students and faculty competed in an eventful and exciting basketball game on Friday, December 22. The students were victorious! Their win is a result of outstanding teamwork and communication between players and coaches. Congratulations!
Wellness Wednesday and Pajama Day all-in-one! Students had a chance to unwind and have fun during Wellness Wednesday activities in their PE and Health classes today. They enjoyed playing games and making various crafts with their teachers and counselors.
Today's Holiday Spirit Week day is Twin Day. The EIS Math teachers take Twin Day seriously!
Students in Mrs. Ferreira's 6th grade social studies class used the acronym GRAPES (Geography, Religion, Achievements, Politics, Economy, Social Structure) to identify and categorize historical facts. They completed a timed carousel of task cards with their peers to complete this task.
Students created hundreds of cards for the Cards for Troops as an annual tradition. Led by ELA teacher, Kim Swenson, Cards for Troops have received over 38,000 cards in the past 15 years from the Edison and Westfield school community.
Seventh grade students enjoyed their annual viewing of The Outsiders movie. The ELA teachers facilitate the showing of this movie at the conclusion of their unit in which students read and analyze the novel.
The EIS SGA collected food for local food pantries this holiday season. This annual food drive is always a huge success. Thank you for all who donated!
