Ms. Houghtaling’s biology class investigated the properties of cell membranes by creating phospholipid bilayers with bubbles and performing various experiments.

8th grade US History students are conducting an investigation into the staged crime scene of the Boston Massacre which took place on March 5, 1770. Based on the evidence from the crime and witness testimony, the students will decide if the soldiers charged with murder are innocent or guilty.




Students in Ms. Rusignuolo's Spanish 8 class worked in groups to create an ending to a drama read in class. They illustrated the drama using celebrities in a slide show. Upon completion of all the presentations, students will vote on "most dramatic", "most surprising", and "easiest to understand".

Students in STEM 6 have begun building their roller coasters. This exciting project allows students to apply the skills learned in class to the real world.




The students in Ms. Weems' period 7 science class have been learning how to care for plants in science class. Here they take time to water their growing plants.




Minding Your Mind is an organization dedicated to educating students about the importance of developing positive coping skills for managing mental health challenges. In honor of Suicide Awareness Month, Colin visited EIS to share his personal story and how asking for help transformed his life.



In 8th grade Fine Arts, students are diving into the world of color theory and experimenting with vibrant acrylic pours. They’re learning how colors interact and blend, applying this knowledge to create dynamic, fluid art pieces. This hands-on project not only strengthens their understanding of color dynamics but also allows them to explore their creativity in a fun and engaging way!




For Suicide Awareness Month students pledge to “Speak up & Say Something” if they are concerned and worried about a friend. Students enjoyed signing this pledge with green handprints during the SAC led Handprint of Hope activity during lunch.





The EIS Club Fair had a huge turnout! Students visited the tables of over 15 clubs while also enjoying music, pretzels for sale, bubbles, and sidewalk chalk to kick off the 2024-2025 school year clubs and activities season.

Mr. Varhley and Ms. Iannacone guided students through self-assessing their own work using a document analysis reflection. Students determined their own grades based on effort and accuracy.

Students in Mrs. Keller and Ms. Dow's period 3 social studies class were displaying their knowledge of DBQs from what they learned in 6th grade. They impressed teachers with their analytical skills.




Mrs. Schall joined Mrs. Meade's 8th grade journalism class to play a get to know you game. We asked each other prepared questions that provided a window into each person's personality. Students were surprised to learn that Mrs. Schall gets nervous when she has to speak in public.



Students in Mr. Markowski's 8th grade vocal music class are trying hard to get Mrs. Schall to sing for them. Thank you Mr. Markowski to helping me avoid embarrassment!


Teachers are using collaborative learning strategies to ease students into the new school year. Mrs. Semon’s Math 8 class is finding someone who shares the same answers to skills review problems.
