
A Physical Education gymnastics unit, with Jefferson 1st and 2nd graders performing various skills to improve body control and awareness. Students in the upper grades used ropes, pull up bars, tumbling mats, and a balance beam placed an inch or so from the floor.





As part of an elementary science unit, 1st and 4th graders study mealworms. The mealworms recently arrived at in Mrs. Wade's class at Wilson, with 4th graders learning the anatomy of the larva, how to care for mealworms, and whether they like color, certain smells, and sounds.



Another successful Math Night at Franklin, where students, families, and staff enjoyed a variety of activities based on the theme: "Old MacDonald had a Number Farm." Former students lent a hand, while current students collected stamps as they completed math challenges.







Are these values the same or not the same? Lincoln students recently used gross motor movements to show if values are equal or not equal.

Students in Dr. Terra's Forensic Science classes at WHS conducted a lab on blood typing. Blood typing is an inexpensive technique utilized in forensics to narrow down a pool of suspects. The entire lab is a science kit utilizing artificial blood.





Replicas of artifacts on loan from the Holocaust Center for Humanity helped McKinley 5th graders consider the impactful life stories behind the artifacts during their study of the Holocaust last month.

Grades 4 and 5 Wax Museums at our elementary schools showcase an impressive array of learning, as students research a trailblazer, polish writing and public speaking skills, and present to their school communities. Here's what it looked like recently at Tamaques.







2nd grade scientists at Jefferson enjoy making "Elephant Toothpaste," as parent presenters Mr. and Mrs. Khanshab show what happens when yeast, warm water, hydrogen peroxide, and dish soap are mixed, with differing amounts of hydrogen peroxide used to cause varied reactions.



WHS Varsity Indoor Color Guard achieves 2nd place in the Scholastic A class at a recent mid-atlantic competition, with the leadership of captains Ben Wisniewski and Kaitlyn D'Alessandro. Next up, the WInter Guard International Philadelphia Regional on February 24.



Our students enjoy visiting the pop-up museums at EIS, RIS, and the Westfield Memorial Library, hosted by the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Association of Westfield. The exhibits detail African American history in Westfield from 1720 to present.

PTO-sponsored Chess and Scrabble Club at Washington, with students learning how to outmaneuver their opponents under the guidance of middle school helpers.


All Westfield Public Schools and district offices will be CLOSED on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, due to the impending storm. All afterschool activities are canceled. The Board of Education meeting also is canceled, with announcement of a rescheduled date to come. Please stay safe and warm!
