Five Westfield High School 12th graders have been named 2024 National Merit Semifinalists. Jacob Blaustein, Yenjay Hu, Kathryn Kengeri, Tage Mehta, and Nathan Reynders are among a nationwide pool of about 16,000 semifinalists who represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. These academically talented students have the opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships that will be offered next spring.
“Being named a National Merit Semifinalist is a great honor and it speaks volumes about the semifinalists’ strength of character and commitment to their education,” says WHS principal Mary Asfendis.
Asfendis also congratulated 21 WHS students who have been recognized for their exceptional academic promise as Commended Students in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program as well. They are:
