Roosevelt Intermediate School

Message From Mr. Gechtman

Halloween is a fun day at Roosevelt School where students participate fully in all of their classes, but do so dressed in costume. We do ask that students not wear any Halloween masks that will affect their vision and masks should not be worn during class time. Moreover, students are not permitted to bring any costume weapons with them to school.

Everyone at Roosevelt School is excited for our upcoming Fall Drama performance of The Wizard of Oz - The Deleted Scene on November 3rd at 4pm, November 4th and 5th at 7pm. Please use the link below to purchase tickets, as they are on sale now. All tickets are $10.00 and they will not be sold at the door. In addition, in order to minimize traffic in the vestibule, please have a printed paper copy of your ticket, or your mobile copy ready for entry upon arrival.

Curriculum in Focus -

Fine Arts

6th Grade

  • This month, 6th grade students analyzed the difference between Fine Art and Commercial art and designed a poster for the Westfield Historical Society, Apple-Fest 2022. Our 6th graders are currently working on Monster themed works based on the Westfield artist Charles Addams and his Addams Family characters. Students will close out the month of October with still life drawings.

7th Grade

  • This month, 7th grade students went back in time to look at famous artworks in history, and recreated these pieces in a modern way.  Looking at medieval art our 7th graders are designing Illuminated Letters of their initials. Students will close out the month of October taking a look at the work of 1980s New York artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.

8th Grade

  • This month, we are so proud of our 8th grade students, as they worked extremely hard on their pen and graphite mandalas. Their work looks amazing. The focus was on patience, care, and detail. In Fine Arts, our students are doing a fabulous job on their skeleton still lives using charcoal.
