Monday, September 30,2024 —The Lincoln Early Childhood Center hosted its highly anticipated annual PTO-sponsored Touch-A-Truck event, drawing excitement from students and families alike. The event featured an array of emergency vehicles, including the Westfield Police Department's special operations trailer, a cruiser, motorcycle, and even a police boat. Students were also thrilled to explore an ambulance and one of the fire department's fire trucks.
Local emergency responders were on hand to provide interactive, kid-friendly explanations of their equipment and duties. Students were given the chance to sit inside the vehicles, try on gear, and get a close look at the tools used in daily emergency operations. The event offered a unique hands-on learning experience, helping children understand the roles these professionals play in keeping the community safe.
With next week marking the Week of Respect, the Touch-A-Truck event served as a valuable opportunity to teach students not only about safety, but also the importance of respecting the hard work and dedication of emergency responders.
Thank you to the parent volunteers who helped make this event a great success! 🚒🚔🚑🚜
