Author Day was inspirational! Author David Biedrzycki (Bah-Dricky) , a writer and illustrator, spoke about telling stories, finding ideas in everyday life, and his process for creating illustrations. Using a easy to use app, Procreate, he could make amazing visuals. He also had lunch with a handful of lucky winners!

One of our many Black History Month activities is these portraits that students make. The portraits are outlined and then cut into small squares that students can color in whatever way they want. Then all of the squares get put back together to make a unique portrait of famous African Americans.

Dating back to 1885, George Washington’s birthday was the first federal holiday honoring an individual’s birth date. In 1971, it moved to the third Monday in February, falling between Washington and Abraham Lincoln’s birthdays, inspiring the name Presidents Day. #PresidentsDay
