All four of the Westfield High School student musicians who qualified for Region Band in January also were awarded spots in All-State Band. They are:
- Nolan Daly, 11th grade, Trumpet, All-State Symphonic Band
- Charlie Hu, 11th grade, Oboe, All-State Wind Ensemble
- Liliana Lincoln, 9th grade, Bb Clarinet, All-State Symphonic Band
- Sarah Lincoln, 11th grade, Contrabass Clarinet, All-State Wind Ensemble
“Recently, the State made available digital copies of the All-State programs back to the first year it was held in 1937,” says Band Director Christopher Vitale who, with Co-Band Director Trevor Sindorf, did some tallying out of curiosity. “We discovered that these 4 students are the 86th, 87th, 88th, and 89th students in WHS history to make the New Jersey All-State Band, which highlights how difficult it is to get to that point.”
The four student musicians will travel to Atlantic City the weekend of February 24 to rehearse with the bands culminating in a performance at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark on Sunday, February 26.
