The Westfield High School Counseling Department hosted its 1st Annual WHS Grads Return event on December 17, with more than 20 recent alumni returning to WHS to share insights on post-secondary life with 11th and 12th graders.
The WHS alum served on four panels throughout the school, addressing questions and topics that included post-secondary exploration, the college application process, the transition to life after high school, the realities of college life, and more.
The morning program also included five Westfield community members who served on a career panel, televised live to 9th and 10th graders in their classrooms on the high school’s Blue Devil Television. Topics included career exploration and preparation, developing industries, and the work/life balance.
The WHS Counseling Department encourages any Westfield community members - including WHS alum, residents, those who work in town - who would be interested in participating in an event like this in the future to sign up for the Blue Devil Community Network.
“We use the Blue Devil Community Network for events such as these and also to connect our current students to community members whose paths match their interests,” says Director of K-12 Counseling Falynn Balassone. “Thank you to all who participated in the 1st Annual WHS Grads Return. And thank you to our incredibly engaged, respectful, and gracious WHS students who took advantage of this opportunity to think about the future.”
