Multilingual Learning (ML) Program
At the heart of our Multilingual Learning (ML) Program (formerly English as a Second Language (ESL)) lies a commitment to fostering inclusive excellence and empowering multilingual learners through practical and effective English language acquisition.
We strive to provide our students with the language support they need to be successful and meet the demands of the 21st Century.
The Multilingual Learning Program recognizes that parental involvement is directly linked to the academic success and social-emotional wellbeing of multilingual learners. It is this department's objective to facilitate the fundamental supports that immigrant families need to engage with the Westfield Public Schools and their child's education.
A successful integration into the social, cultural, and economic fabric of American society should include the retention of the immigrant families' own cultural identity.
Lastly, our multilingual learners (MLs) (formerly English Language Learners (ELLs)) not only bring with them a diverse cultural background, but also very unique experiences, perspectives, and attributes and talents that enrich the lives of all students and the Westfield community.
