A BRAND NEW COMPONENT OF SHARING TALENTS AND SKILLS (STS) is the opportunity to volunteer to be the advisor for extra-curricular programs that will not be included in the 2009-2010 school budget.  Volunteers are wanted for:


Saturday Science Advisor(s) -
An academic seminar series for Westfield High School students that meets on Saturday mornings throughout the year, depending on speakers' schedules & availabilities.  Wonderful opportunities that rivals the research seminar series of top universities.  This series was cited for the impact it had on our students in the most recent Middle States Evaluation. (Jan - May, 40 - 145 students;  approximately 90 hrs. student contact time; 115 hrs. prep.)

High School Variety Show Advisor(s)  - 
Plan, audition, organize, and run a talent competition for the high school students. (Mar-Apr, 50 students/ approximately 88 hrs contact time with students/ 20 hrs. prep).  CONTACT:  Peter Renwick, Westfield High School Principal,

Community Service Advisor(s) -
Advise group of dedicated Westfield High School students in community-service activities throughout the school, town, and community at large. This involves planning and executing service activities, planning and executing club fund-raisers, and reaching out to the school and local community in order to keep abreast of service needs that exist. (aproximately 100 hrs. contact time, 100 addl hours prep time/75 students).  CONTACT:  Peter Renwick, Westfield High School Principal,

District Art show & WHS display assisants - 
Experience required for cutting mats for district art show in mid-May.  Organize and mat work for Youth Art Month (March)  and prepare displays for showcases. (approximately 100 hrs).  CONTACT: Linda King, Fine Arts Supervisor,

High School Summer Weight Training Coach -
Monitor and assist student athletes training in the weight room, on the track, & on the field so that they can be in top physical condition for the upcoming school year. Weight room at Kehler Stadium. ( June - Aug.,  100 students  /100 hrs student contact, 5 hrs. prep).  CONTACT: Ed Tranchina, Athletic Director,
